Code for Sustainable Homes
Over the past few years environmental issues have become increasingly important and
are likely to dominate our lives for the foreseeable future. The UK Government is
committed to addressing both the causes and consequences of climate change. To combat
the impact of new build housing on the environment, in April 2007 the
Code For Sustainable Homes became operational and in May 2008 it became
mandatory for all new homes to be rated against the code. The Code for Sustainable
Homes covers nine categories of sustainable design including Energy and CO2 emissions,
water, materials, surface water run-off, waste, pollution, health and wellbeing,
management and ecology.
If you have a requirement for your new home to achieve a level of the code then
enquire at Buildakit to find out how we can help you. BuildaKit employ a full time assessor and is a company
registered with the BRE to provide Code Assessments
for new homes. BuildaKit are available to assist you offering advice and workable,
practical solutions to code issues at design stage and throughout the build. All
our products are suitable for projects constructed to code standards. Points gained
by using our build systems will make a substantial contribution towards your required
level. When aiming to achieve any level of the Code we recommend that you contact
us as early in the design stage as possible. Many of the points awarded towards
achieving a Code rating could be unattainable after design stage and certainly after
work commences on site. BuildaKit are also able to provide assistance on gaining
