Due to continued growth we have an exciting opportunity for a talented Timber Frame Designer to join our small team within our factory based in Nelson Lancashire. As our Timber Frame Designer, you will be assisting the Design Manager and be responsible for the preparation, design and coordination of closed panel timber frame designs and Building Information Models. You will be working in conjunction with external suppliers, Engineers, Architects, clients, sub-contractors and the internal production team.
In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed designs and plans for timber frame structures, contributing significantly to our projects’ success and quality.
Responsibilities
- Develop and create detailed design plans for timber frame structures.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to understand design requirements.
- Utilise Hsb CAD software to produce accurate drawings and specifications.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulations.
- Participate in client meetings
- Provide support during the fabrication process to ensure design integrity.
Requirements
- At least 3 years proven experience as a timber frame designer in the construction or manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of timber frame construction techniques and materials.
- Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and Teams
- Have an understanding of materials/components used in the construction of low-rise buildings
- Produce accurate Bills of Materials and ancillary take-offs
- Experience with steel detailing advantageous but not essential
- Experience with designing trussed roofs would be advantageous but not essential
- Experience with “I” Joist floor design would be advantageous but not essential
- An understanding of current building regulations would be beneficial
- You will need to be self-motivated, with the ability to work on your own initiative and manage your workload based on priorities
- You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to form and maintain strong working relationships with team members and clients
- You will be reliable and punctual.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
